Tungsten carbide particles – high chromium cast iron surface wear resistant material

It can be seen from the working conditions of agricultural machinery that abrasive wear is its main failure form. In addition, agricultural machinery also has the characteristics of low manufacturing precision, large proportion of castings, and requirements for deep wear-resistant layers. Therefore, cladding and casting a layer of surface wear-resistant material on cheap materials is more suitable for the manufacture of agricultural machinery. High-chromium cast iron is considered to be a good abrasive wear-resistant material, in which C r7C3 type carbides play a major role in resisting abrasive micro-cutting. The main abrasive particles in the soil are generally different types of silicon oxides, with a hardness of about HV 1000, which is basically “soft abrasive wear” for high-chromium cast iron. At this time, if the hardness of the material is increased, its wear resistance will be rapidly improved. The hardness of tungsten carbide (W C) is much higher than that of C r7C3, and the wetting angle between tungsten carbide and iron-based metal is zero, which is easy to combine. A good composite of tungsten carbide particles and high-chromium cast iron can definitely improve the material’s abrasive wear resistance.
